Implementing the 10 Child Safe Standards

Creating a child safe culture where children’s rights are respected and their voices are heard 

  • Maintaining clear behavioural expectations and professional boundaries

  • Responding promptly and appropriately to any concerns, disclosures or allegations of harm, in line with NSW child protection laws and the Reportable Conduct Scheme

  • Managing risks to children in both physical and online environments

  • Promoting inclusion and cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children with disability, and children from diverse backgrounds

  • Continuously reviewing and improving our policies and practices to strengthen child safety

As a child safe organisation we recognise that child safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage children, families and our community to speak up if they have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child. We commit to:

  • Educating everyone involved in our organisation about what it means to be a child safe

  • organisation, so that we can prevent, detect and effectively respond to child abuse

  • Making sure everyone involved in our organisation knows how to appropriately respond to complaints, allegations, disclosures and breaches to our Child Safe Code of Conduct 

  • Welcoming feedback to continuously improve our child safe policies, procedures and practices

  • Making sure that when family and community members interact with our organisation, they are aware that child safety is everyone’s responsibility, and their behaviour aligns with our child safe practices
